The photo was taken in the building of my B&B, while I was on holiday in Rome.Time
This is by far one of my favourite unplanned image. I remember it was actually my last day in Rome, I was out from the early morning trying to take advantage of the last hours in that beautiful city and headed back to the B&B right after lunch as I was having the flight soon and was already in a bit of a hurry. Once in the hallway downstairs, I was waiting for the elevator. As you can see, it was a tall building so I always had to wait for the elevator for a while. I didn't care much the previous days as I was never rushing, but at that moment every minute counted. So I headed to the stairs, but as I looked up two things happened: a) I instantly gave up as I realized how many stairs are( the flat was on the 6th floor if I remember well) and how tired I already am. b) I saw exactly what you see in the photo and realized how I've almost missed this shot!Lighting
It's only natural light, as bright& strong you can get in a summer day around 2pm.Equipment
My camera batteries were already dead after hours in the city, but I didn't want to completely miss the shot, so I had to use my mobile phone. I'm planning to go back there though only for retaking this shot. :)Inspiration
I am very much into minimalism, geometry, architecture and perspective and I think here all the elements combine beautifully. I also like how, from a different point of view, the spiraling shape can subtly represent the concept of continuity, infinity.Editing
Apart from the basic adjustments didn't need to as the light was bright& crisp. In my camera bag
At the moment I don't have much time to focus on photography, nor to research for better gear so I'm still with my Nikon D5100 with the 18-55mm lens. I'm planning to get more into it towards the end of the year though when hopefully I'll have more time to dedicate to my passions.Feedback
Become the best observer you can possibly be, so you don't miss great shots on the way. And no matter how many batteries you have, get a couple more! :))
