Location
Met the couple online they wanted to take pictures in and around Manhattan during their stay in the US. We shot all around and this was one of my favorite shots of the day on the Brooklyn Bridge.Time
We spent most of the day in Mid-Town Manhattan then we took the subway downtown. When we arrived to the Brooklyn Bridge it was about 5pm in September.Lighting
Since I was traveling with my equipment, I had to travel light I had a couple of speedlights on me but I didn't need them. It was a partly sunny day and this capture was right at the moment when a cloud was covering the sun.Equipment
In this particular shot I used a Canon 60D along with the 70-200mm 2.8 hand held there wasn't a lot of time to set the shot up it happened in the moment and it is one of my most cherished images to date.Inspiration
As i was shadowing the couple throughout the day I picked up on some key moments they had with each other. He decided to climb on top of the structure and sit there and she leaned in for a kiss. I felt this moment was better than the kiss itself.Editing
As I do with all my photos I took this image into LR to make color corrections and exposure changes needless to say this image really did not need much more than that.In my camera bag
I'm typically a wedding and event photographer so I usually carry 2 camera bodies, 3 go to lenses a 70-200 2.8, 28mm 2.8 and a 50mm 1.4. In addition I bring at least 4 speed lights an octo and a couple of umbrellas with stands.Feedback
This shoot was pretty much capture the moment for me. I was not familiar with the couple at all other than a couple of emails so I worked with the information that was given as I got to know the couple throughout our day together I knew what to look for in shots. My advice is get to know your couple's natural state in order to capture a moment like this it's better to let it happen naturally rather than staged. If you were to stage something like this be sure it's a couple who is genuinely comfortable in this type of setting or situation.
