This photo was taken on a Ballet Academy, I´m a self taught photographer so every shooting session is a new adventure for meTime
the time of day was about 4pm, so we had to cover all windows with a black cloth.Lighting
Even though we cover the windows with a black cloth, we also had to set the strobes to high power in order to eliminate any ambient light. Due to the angle of camera, the floor was going to be our background, we did put a white cloth on the floor to get rid of the normal wood floor. For this setup, we used a beauty dish from camera left and a snoot from camera right, coming from the back and pointing at her hair so that the light falloff fell on her shoulder. Since both lights were coming from a high position, they also illuminated the floor (our background).Equipment
Equipment used: Canon 6D, Canon EF50mm 1.8II lens, Flash Godox AD600 and Yongnuo speedlite.Inspiration
The owner of the Academy is a friend of mine, in one of my visits to his academy they were doing rehearsals for a presentation and then it was when this idea came to me, to capture an image that would represent the grace and beauty of a Ballerina, but without any distraction from the place.Editing
All post-processing was made in Lightroom and, since I planned the lighting carefully, it wasn't so hard to get it done.In my camera bag
On my bag I usually carry my Canon 6D, canon 70-300mm lens and 17-40mm, EF50mm 1.8II, and for portrait I also like to use Tokina Macro 100mm 2.8D. Yongnuo speedlite for outdoors portraits casual shooting.Feedback
If you do not have a large studio, a Ballet Academy is usually a good place, since they usually have ample space to plan your session.
