Behind The Lens

Location

Dry riverbed just outside Mata Mata rest camp in the Kgalagadi game reserve, South africa.

Time

During sunrise, leaving the campsite for our morning game drive. The small herd of Wildebeest were moving in my direction kicking up dust with the rising sun behind the. (05h58)

Lighting

Photograping against the light it was the perfect oppurtunity to expose for a silhouette shot. The dust made the picture.

Equipment

Shot with Canon 7D mkii; Canon 100-400mm mkii; 1/5000, f5.6, iso 160 @234mm.

Inspiration

Simply the scene in front of me. The colour of light thru the dust.

Editing

A bit of tweeking in photoshop.

In my camera bag

My canon 7d mkii, canon 70-200mm , 100-400mm mkii, canon 24-70mm and a sigma 17 - 50mm. Tripod and mono pod.

Early morning and late afternoon, as we all know for best light. Get to know the area, select your spots and exercise patience. Do not chase after something you might miss!
