This photo was taken at the National Butterfly Center in Mission, Tx.Time
This was a morning excursion; my favorite time of day to shoot! As I recall, the park opened around 9:00 AM and I was among the first to arrive that day.Lighting
There is something about the angle of morning sunlight that seems to make colors stand out or 'pop' in a way that really catches my eye!Equipment
I'm fortunate to have what I consider a good camera; a 60D by Canon. Paired with a 55/250 lens and set in 'sport/action' mode makes for a quick shutter speed to compensate for being a hand held shot.Inspiration
I find butterflies wings to be a canvas for Mother Nature herself with the myriad of colors, patterns and seeming textures they provide. I like shooting all kinds animals, birds, bugs and flora; but butterflies are especially captivating to me!Editing
Once in a while you get a lucky shot that needs no processing at all. I felt like this was one of those that could stand on it's own merit. In my camera bag
I usually have an 18/55 and the 55/250 lens with my 60D and a back up battery and charger in my bag. There is also a wireless remote shutter with batteries I've used a time or two.Feedback
Let me preface this by saying I consider myself a self taught 'hobbyist' photographer; so you can take my comments in their proper context. I would say with some attention to light, background and framing in composing your shots you will be on your way to a rewarding photography experience!
