Behind The Lens

This is a studio shot with a black cloth background

Lighting

I used a single Elinchrome flash on a boom above and slightly behind the model.

Equipment

This was the “Murphy’s law” shoot. To begin with I had been in a minor motorcycle accident the week before and had two broken ribs. I decided to tough it out and shoot anyway. How strenuous is shooting? More than I thought. I wanted to shoot B&W film but the hot shoe on my Mamiya 645 malfunctioned. I switched to my Canon 7D which malfunctioned after 10 shots. The owner if the studio loaned me a Nikon. I only did about 30 exposures before calling it a day.

Inspiration

I was shooting bodyscapes with this model. She had the string of pearls with her so we incorporated them in the shot.

Editing

I just converted it to monochrome. I think this image has more impact in B&W.
