Location
I took this photo at the Chesterton Windmill.Time
It was planned and timed for the sunset with a couple of friends.Lighting
I wanted to get the beautiful colors of the sun setting on the sky.Equipment
It was taken on my Nikon D7100 with the 11-16mm f/2.8 Tokina. I used a Walimex tripod with a Bilora ball head and the camera bag on the tripod to weight everything down.Inspiration
The way the Windmill stood out in the countryside. Adding the human element to the photo really gave it the extra impact.Editing
I used lightroom to process the Row file in order to bring out the colors in the sky and balance the foreground with the background. Added a graduate filter to the sky to darken and one in the foreground to lighten. Some sharpening and blemish fixes. In my camera bag
Now I bring my D700 with my Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8. Filters and extra batteries are a must.Feedback
Plan your shot in advance. Arrive early to set up everything and adjust accordingly with whatever changes you may need to make. Tripod, remote, wide-angle lens and patience will also play a big part in the shoot.
