Location
This photo was taken in July a few years back while up at the cabin on Fountain Lake. Fountain Lake is a very small lake in Lillooet, BC. This particular view was right outside the cabin we stayed in. I was an extremely amateur photographer when this was taken but got some great shots in this location.Time
This is my favorite shot from that weekend. I remember waking up around 7:00am to use the washroom and thinking "typical, I never wake up to have to go but of course because it's an outhouse up the hill from the cabin I have to". I just happened to look out the bedroom window before I went out and this was the view. So naturally I grabbed my camera to take with me as it was too beautiful not to get a few shots.Lighting
The lighting was natural and effortless with this shot.Equipment
As I mentioned, I was very amateur at this point and didn't actually even own DSLR camera yet. It was shot with a Canon PowerShot SD750, no flash, no tri-pod, no special lenses.Inspiration
The fog over the water caught my eye when I looked out, that mixed with the sun just coming up made for a really nice shot.Editing
I actually did very little as far as post processing goes. Just cleaned up the white balance a tad and removed some shadow but it really didn't need much at all.In my camera bag
I'm not going to lie, I don't often carry my tri-pod, multiple lenses, flash etc. although I do own them. More times then not I am hiking with people and only carry my camera (Canon Rebel T3) with the 18-55mm lens it came with. I will sometimes pack my zoom lens though it doesn't often get used. I love landscape photography and I'm always outside for walks and hikes, I find the scenery does a lot for itself without having to get too technical with it. I tend to use what I can around be for stability if needed, saves me carrying my tri-pod everywhere.Feedback
With landscape photography I find so often it's all about the light. Dawn and Dusk! The best times to set out and capture Nature and Landscape with ideal natural light. Always adds depth and vibrant color to your shots. In retrospect with the equipment I have now, If I were to take this same shot again I would play with focus points a lot more to make the boat pop.
