Behind The Lens

Location

North Carolina's Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge on the Outer Banks

Time

This was such a prefect beach day! Taken just after we had lunch so the seagulls decided to get close and wait patiently to see if we'd share. Excellent opportunity to capture them in flight!

Lighting

Since we're on the East Coast and right after lunch, the sun was behind us and shining perfectly bright on the birds and sea.

Equipment

This was captured with my Nikon 3200 70-300 mm...love this lens!!

Inspiration

This is my favorite place to be lazy and find the perfect subject to shoot. Whether it be the ocean, the dune line landscape, crabs or the 1,000 birds the coast has to offer, it's has many great creatures, sunrises or sunsets to capture. A golden rule of nature photography is to have patience and the beach is one excellent place to find it.

Editing

I'm such a new photographer that I haven't done any post processing besides adding a little saturation to brighten up the colors.

In my camera bag

My 70-300 mm is my "go to" favorite for shooting nature shots. I'm only a beginner in photography but this lens has helped me capture the action shots I've been craving to get.

Feedback

I'm fortunate to live in a beautiful area that has an abundance of wild life and landscapes, the Outer Banks of North Carolina. This has given me many great opportunities in discovering many different subjects. My advice would always be explore, explore, explore!!
