Location
I am a rather opportunistic self-taught photographer, so if I see something interesting I take a photo of it. I was working in my yard when I noticed several California poppies planted in my neighbor's flower garden that adjoins to my yard.Time
The photo was taken in the mid-morning, in late spring.Lighting
The sun had not quite finished rising so the light was a little defused and not too intense.Equipment
This shot was taken with a Canon EOS Rebel SL1 camera using a Canon EFS 18-55mm lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
Being am generally attracted to bright colors when I saw these flowers I could not resist taking the shot.Editing
I did very little post-processing, I made some minor fixes to both the image sharpness and depth of color. I left the blurred background exactly as it was taken. In my camera bag
I'm inclined to travel light, so there is very little in my camera bag. In addition to my camera and the afore mentioned lens, I had a Tamron AF 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 lens and a monopod.Feedback
Be careful to consider the lighting, particularly sunlight. Make sure you are in the best position relative to the available sunlight and your desired subject. Always remember to have fun taking your photographs.
