Behind The Lens

Location

In a field near Banff Canada.

Time

4 p.m.

Lighting

The photo op was perfect because the animal did not seem to worry about people.

Equipment

Nikon D 700... ISO400... 1/800sec

Inspiration

The animal was magnificent and at home feeding in it's natural habitat/

Editing

Only slight cropping.

In my camera bag

Current use the Sony a7iii and four a6500's with and an assortment of full frame lenses. My go to lens is a Sony 24-240mm FE for tht environment.

Feedback

Use a long fast lens so you can get the good shots from a distance so you do not spook the wildlife. From a distance you can take your time composing and getting multiple shots. The closer to get to the animal the easier it is for it to see, hear, or smell you. Their senses are usually more keen than a human's. This was old technology - 2011. The new mirrorless full frame and cropped sensor cameras do an incredible job in these conditions.
