The early light made the edges of the Cholla cactus glow and created some surreal looking light for the scene.Equipment
Canon 6D, Canon 16-35mm f/2.8, Manfrotto Tripod.Inspiration
I had seen the way these cacti glow in the light and wanted to get a unique composition to really show them off.Editing
Focus stacking of 5 images and an exposure blend of 4 images for the dynamic range. Several images were taken with my thumb covering the sun as well in order to remove lens flare. In my camera bag
Canon 6D, Canon 24-105, Canon 16-35mm, Sony a7s, Canon 50mm, MeFoto Tripod, lens cloth!Feedback
When shooting directly into the sunlight, it is always wise to use the histogram and take several images at different exposures in order to cover the entire range of light. This will allow you to expose and keep details in the shadows while keeping the colors and tones of the sky and sunlight. To remove lens flare, take a few shots with your thumb covering the sunlight, this will allow you to shoot the foreground with out any flare in the shot.
