Location
The photo was taken on the main sands Margate beach, North East Kent (UK)Time
Photo was taken mid to late afternoon, on a dreary day with not much in the way of any good lightLighting
. . . . . yes it was awful, very overcast and grey, grey, grey!!!Equipment
Canon 30D 70mm-300mm Sigma lens - hand held (no flash)Inspiration
I wanted to practice my photography skills as had recently been given my camera as a birthday present. I noticed the quad bike event was taking place in my local paper so decided to trot down to the beach to see what I could manage to capture. This was my first attempt at action photography, so was quite please when I got home and reviewed my many photo's from my afternoon's adventure. I had intended to practice panning but also managed to capture this freeze frame shot, which to me looks like it's almost jumping out of the page! Very pleased with my results which I hope will inspire me to improve and take more action shots in the future.Editing
Basic touch up tools on my old windows computer - sharpening, exposure - think the was it, I don't have any fancy editing software :-(In my camera bag
Starting to get a nice little collection of lenses - Sigma for affordability, I have my zoom 70mm-300mm, a super wide angle 10mm-20mm, and a recent second hand macro purchase 105mm. I have also recently acquired a 10stop ND filter and a shutter release cable so will be looking to take some landscape photography at some time soon.Feedback
Very new to action photography, so my only advice is to be patient, and give it a go like I did, as you never know what amazing shots you might come back with!!
