Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken at Zephyr Cove, Lake Tahoe Nevada.

Time

We took our couple out for sunset photos during their wedding reception.

Lighting

The lighting was achieved via off camera flash. My wife (and fellow photographer) was holding the flash on a lightstand off to the left of the frame.

Equipment

Camera: Nikon D4s (or D750) Lens: 24mm f1.4 Flash: Cheetah Light V850

Inspiration

I noticed the still pool of water and realized there was potential for a reflection.

Editing

Mostly this image was all in camera. The post was simple, just a little tonal adjustment and color.

In my camera bag

My camera bags for weddings include: Nikon D4s Nikon D750 Nikon 24mm f1.4 Nikon 35mm f1.4 Nikon 105mm f2.8 Nikon 85mm f1.4 Nikon 50mm f1.4 5 Speedlights Lowel GL-1 light Reflector Lowepro Backpack

Feedback

When making images of people in the landscape pay attention to the background and isolate your subjects against a neutral area where they stand out. You want your viewer's eye to have no distractions from the subject yet still have a pleasing composition.
