This photo believe it or not was taken in my backyard with in a blow up kiddie pool! We used a huge piece of black fabric to lay on the bottom of the pool to blacken the water. it was PERFECT! I could not have been any more pleased!Time
the time of day was high noon - and typically this wouldn't be a "favorable" time for a photoshoot. That said using all natural light was my mission to master and I couldnt be more proud of my series of images for that day.Lighting
The shadows and pockets of glowing lights that peeked through the trees at this time of day, made for such a perfect touch to the images.Equipment
I used a canon t3i - and a 50mm lens. I have a passion to build more confidence for the rebel cameras. I learned everything i know on one and although i have ventured on to full frame, I still use it to challenge myself. I've seen several photographer's do challenge's with their peers using the same camera and model, all to show how all our perspectives are different even given the exact same circumstances and lighting. I myself would love to see a full frame and crop sensor used side by side. and I couldnt of asked for a better contest to prove that no matter the camera body, or skin youre shooting.. perspective is everything.Inspiration
I had the idea floating in my head for several weeks. I attempted to shoot it in a studio but because of the location and possible water damage i was asked to please not continue with the plan. I definitely would still make it happen, this time without strobes and the freedom of my backyard.Editing
My model is 18 years old, needless to say her skin was hardly retouched beyond my usual workflow. She was flawless. From there I added a preset in lightroom to add depth and to tone the overall feel of the image. In my camera bag
My camera bag carries my T3i - a canon 7D, two Neewer speedlights, and a 50mm lens. And my go-to lenses are the 35mm and 85mm for portraits.Feedback
Shoot whatever comes to your mind, trial and error is your best friend. If you have an idea to create "black" water with a huge piece of fabric, do it! From there pull the fabric out and maybe add milk (so long as the model isn't allergic) - then shoot that too. Whatever is in your brain can be executed. I'm excited to see myself amongst such stunning imagery, i hope to continue to orbit and grow along with you all.
