Spectacular shot! Makes me want to do more night photography (I had thought it was the sun until I saw the stars).

Location
This photo was taken at a local crossing from the local water park. Burntwood, Lichfield. I had crossed this exact bridge so many times but never seen its potential. I was so glad to notice it this exact night as the sky was so clear and the colour of the bridge was so vibrant.Time
It was a cold frosty morning last year and if I remember exactly it was about 3am. I had set out on my bike about 2am and had rode my bike to the water park hoping to capture some lovely shots of the town lights bouncing off the water. Once I'd capture the water shots I proceeded to male my way home when the bridge and its surrounding setting just stood out so much I had to stop and set up.Lighting
While taking an image on the opposite side of the bridge, I noticed the street lamp creating an amazing shadow effect on the floor of the bridge. I decided to swap sides and capture it from the opposite side, when I arrived on that side I had to manipulate the tripod to capture the street lamp between the open gaps in the main structure of the bridge. It made for a great sun effect within a night shot.Equipment
My camera is a basic DSLR consisting of a Nikon D3100 with its standard Nikkor DX 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G VR lens and a cheap Vivitar tripod I'd purchased for 19.99. I didn't use any flash as I could see the light effects and shadows would have been greatly lost.Inspiration
The inspiration came from one of the view bug contests I saw just a couple of days before hand it was a bridges photo contest and just looking at the spectacular effects the street lamp was creating was amazing. Plus the image a was seeing was so raw and picturesque I couldn't help but stop and start clickingEditing
I did use the View NX tool which came with the Nikon camera to adjust the colour, sharpness and highlights, I also cloned my bicycle out from the back ground and made the shadow in the middle of the bridge higher to give the bridge a greater dipping effect out of the pictureIn my camera bag
Well to be totally honest with you I only ever carry my camera, tripod, drink, phone and energy bar to keep my warm when needed. I travel light so I can carry my bicycle to the hardest to reach places. I believe its always best to have a fully charged phone, drink and energy bar just to keep yourself from not being able to have the energy to get home or incase of major accidents.Feedback
I can't really offer much advice being an amateur photographer other than remember even the most unnatural and insignificant objects can make great captures, look beyond the graffiti and mess there might be around you and try to envision what can be. If your looking to capture great night shots always pack a tripod, make sure your battery is full and if you know your infinity point use it as it makes the difference to all night shots.
