I took this photo in my studio in Sacramento, CA.Time
Lol I have no idea what time it was, probably sometime around noon. Since I had complete control of light, it didn't really matter when it happened.Lighting
Lighting was a 2 light set up. 2 400ws strobes with medium sized strip boxes on each side, behind the model. The lights were angled to her and wrapped around her and the flour.Equipment
The camera was probably my d90 at the time with a 24-70 2.8 lens. I didn't shoot on a tripod because movement always changed its position, so I had to be able to adjust when ever.Inspiration
I had seen a photographer do something similar except he had the model dancing while flour was being thrown at her. I changed it up by cover the model completely in it, and was able to capture her movement with it.Editing
The post processing was very little. Just come color correcting and making some whites whiter and blacks blacker. In my camera bag
I now shoot full frame, so I have my 2 fullframe cameras, 24-70 2.8 and 70-200 2.8,olus my 85 1.8. Various speedlight and triggers come along with me and usually some diffusers and stands too.Feedback
Practice your timing! You have got to be able nail down the pose, have the flour shot correctly, and make sure the hair has cleared the area, all at the same time. You will do multiple takes of the same shot. Also wrap EVERYTHING in plastic, you will be cleaning for months on end otherwise.
