Behind The Lens

Location

Well, hiking Little Carpathians is easy enough, especially if you hike almost every week :) It is a low, about 100 km long, mountain range, part of the Carpathian Mountains which are situated in Western Slovakia. And You know the story - One misty, moisty, morning, When cloudy was the weather, I was there :) Not a very good weather for hiking but somehow very magical and breathtaking.

Time

I love to hike in the early mornings when it's cool and maybe even foggy. And to get back and have the whole rest of the day ahead of me. And sometimes, I like to experience the world alone - the empty, open trail beckons to me. Just me and nature - well and sometimes my photo gear ;) It was one of that mornings - walking around in the cold, misty forest and alone. Oh, I almost forgot - photo was taken on November 21 at 7:00 AM.

Lighting

Pure natural light - diffused by heavy mist - coming from everywhere.

Equipment

This was shot with my old phone - Samsung Galaxy S. I've decide to go without my photo gear and I regret that! Arrrghhh!

Inspiration

It was like in fairy tale - magical ambient light, dark forest and me alone. You know that haunting, spooky feelings? Well I tried to capture it :)

Editing

In this particular case, I had to use just little bit of sharpening and some curves andjustment - perhaps the most powerful and flexible image transformation in tones and contrast.

In my camera bag

I always, ehm almost always :), pack my Nikon D7100 with 50mm 1.4 prime and universal but decent enough general-purpose lens 18-105mm.
