Behind The Lens

Location

I was driving around trying to catch the sunset, when I noticed that the sky is more interesting in the East than on the actually sunset (west). So I just stopped by the road and start taking photos ... photo taken by the road ...

Time

It was evening, sunset was in the progress, and the whole sky starting to changing colors, but on the west were not cloudy so I took the opportunity to do the "opposite sunset shot" ... at 19:52 PM

Lighting

I was impressed with the yellow/orange sky that imitate the sunset, and since the sunset were behind my back I had enough light to get the surroundings in the expression that I like ...

Equipment

This was shot with NikonD600 on tripod (I had enought time to set it), with an 16-28 mm (on 16 mm) # Aperture priority: f/11, 1/15 sec, ISO-100, -0,7 ... without any filters

Inspiration

I was looking for the spot with the great view, for my "collection" of sunsets shots ... with enough countryside, green fields etc ... we had bad grey weather several days before this shot, and the weather forecast for next days were rain ... well I didn't get the clasical sunset shot, but I did get the opposite sunset shot with the great unexpected view ... The view itself was something that I couldn't just drive away ...

Editing

I don't usually do a lot of post-processing, just some basic adjustments on the photos like this. I strive to the point, to make an image on the field ... so in this case I did crop, some basic color adjustments of the tone and a bit of contrast to get more dramatic sky ... I like my images to have more colors (I also most of my photos take in "vivid" settings) ...

In my camera bag

Almost every time I have all my lenses with me in my bag ... you just don't know what you'll find on your way, and sometimes you get nice surprise in front of the lens ... and usually when you are least expected it ... so I have in my bag: Nikon D600, NikonD5100 and occasionally D7100, 10 mm (f/2.8), 16-28 mm (f/2.8), 35 mm (f/1.8), 50 mm (f/1.8), macro 105 mm (f/2.8) and 70-300 mm (f/4.5-5.6) and occasionally 500 mm (f/4.5) ... and of course tripod, remote control, deflector, flash (even I rarely use it) ... so, I don't mind the extra weight to carry around (most of the time I'm driving with my car to the location), even if most of the time I use 16-28 mm, 50 mm and 105 mm macro lens ...

Feedback

Don't focus on things that you are looking for, look behind your back here or then, sometimes it will give you the surprise that you can catch ...
