I gave you a Magnificent Capture Award based on the difficulty of imaging these wonderful birds. Hummers wings not only flap in a vertical motion but take on a figure 8 patterns when doing so. They store nectar in a pouch behind their heads which shift to counterbalance their extreme acrobatic movement. I am sure you have seen this behavior from them before but if not keep and eye out for it- One hummingbird will notice an intruder in or around its territory. The home base Hummer will start to dive bomb the intruder, from one side then up to the other side. On the last dive, the home base Hummer will climb to about 100ft into the sky, then like a jet, tuck his wings in to take the shape of a bullet, and accelerate to speeds topping 70mph, with the bullseye set on the intruder. The sound they make on the last dive is amazing. Sounds like a bullet passing overhead. Thanks for sharing your passion!!

This is a fantastic shot - I spend a lot of time trying to get them in flight - generally unsuccesfully. Well done!
