The 'Other' Snowys are Back!
Well, at least the four I photographed on Sunday. They were in two separate marshes, a pair each, both in Rye.
They are a fun species to watch. They have a few methods of fishing.
The first, like most Egrets and Herons, they see a fish swim by and strike.
The second, and most often used by SNEG's is walking or running thru a salt marsh which makes their prey flee, thus making themselves seen. The SNEG's run or fly after them and strike.
I think thats why their feet are bright yellow... to make sure their prey see's them coming.
