September 2015
It takes about 15 minutes to dark-adapt one's eyes. The sky then looks different as stars, planets, constellations and galaxies sparkle like diamonds, meanwhile reddish air glows ripple across the lower atmospheric strata. Although not as striking as in the Southern Hemisphere, a part of the Milky Way can still be seen above our western horizon. Our galaxy is far more than an idyllic setting of shining stellar entities. It is a sequence of everlasting processes, a perpetual activity, one difficult to understand and scary to contemplate, yet always beautiful to picture.

Can you believe that I was taking night long-exposure photos long before I started taking daylight ones? I need to start doing them again.

Cheers Glenda! I used to do these long exposures quite a lot, but light pollution is horrendous in our vicinity. This is a spot I have identified and used a few times, but you can still see the red-yellow glow from afar.

Thanks Charlene. Notice the slight "bluriness" of the subject matter at the foreground, LOL! It is hard to stand still for 30 seconds.

The long exposures I was talking to you about, Ana. They are a right pain in the arse!

I rarely sleep Keith... I was going to text you here, as I was planning to come to London this weekend, but I had to postpone it

I am glad you like it Sally, because I was there for a few hours, shooting and scrapping, LOL!
