I'd been to Yellowstone a number of times in summer when the tourism is in full swing. This time I wanted it to myself, so I headed out there from Chicago, in an incredibly inappropriate vehicle in January.
In -30 temperatures on a snowmobile I got to the springs. This shot worked so well with the steam from the evaporating river water covering the landscape and condensing on the bison fur.
