Outrigger canoes. This graceful mode of transportation has been employed by the polynesian people for hundreds of years. It was in outrigger canoes like this one that the first human inhabitants arrived on Oahu, Hawaii. Although much of polynesian culture has been lost, these unique vessels can still be seen sailing along the Oahu coast. I was originally sitting on the beach to take sunset pictures when i noticed the striking silhouette of this sail. These outriggers are a beautiful reminder of human innovation, and our desire to explore.
