Wow! I never really noticed the shadow till you pointed it out. This photo was a complete accidental shot... the gull was walking along the beach at Redondo and I had been taking a bunch of shots of him. He suddenly took off flying just as I was taking his picture again and this was the result. I've always like impromptu shots where the subjects are not posing for them but perfectly natural.
