We had a birdhouse in our back yard patio area in which we knew a Chickadee had laid her eggs.
I was gazing out the window when I noticed many small objects scattered around the patio. When I went outside and got closer up, I realized they were 8 tiny featherless birds. Seven were still alive, so we hand fed them with wet cat food on a toothpick and squeezed them all back into the birdhouse. Both Chicadee parents returned and parented them until they became fledglings and left the nest. We never did find out how or why they were strewn about the ground.
