I did and the result is undersized and completely breaking up. For this site I usually size mine at 300dpi and around 2500pixel width. The result is a file that's around 16-20 meg. We all have to learn things - I was a beginner once and appreciated others helping me out. If we didn't take on board what more experienced people can pass on we will never get better?
