Death Valley National Park is one of the most peculiar places I have had the opportunity to explore. Last November my Expedition Management class at Simpson University led a 3-day backpacking trip through the Cottonwood-Marble Canyon loop. Our entire trip was a constant struggle of reading maps with hardly any visible landmarks and the daily stress to find our water sources, but it all ended with a glorious finale through the Marble Canyon Valley. The sun peaked on the tops of the walls, illuminating the bright orange reflection of the desert, while the ground was cracked with dehydration. The walls were as smooth as the floors of the Taj Mahal as we slid our faces across the cold rock. This off the beaten track hike is a must do for any adventure enthusiast.
