I was visiting a friend's farm in Indiana and touring the barns. I turned around and this 4 year old, Appaloosa filly was at the gate and staring at me. Fortunately, it was the golden hour (l really like how the shadows play!) and I just happened to have my camera in hand.

Look at that face... I think I'm in love.... lol!

For those who aren't familiar with Appaloosa Horses, they have an amazing heritage! The abridged version is that they were the war horses of the Nez Perce Indians in the US Pacific Northwest. Despite having superior horses, the Nez Perce were greatly outnumbered and outgunned. After they surrendered to the cavalry, their horses were confiscated. The breed was almost extinct until the mid 1900s when a group of horsemen made a concerted effort to save these spotted horses from being nothing more than a footnote in history.
