Just amazing. If this is candid, I can hardly believe it. All of the crossing lines work wonders on my eyes and the brightness of the frozen water is a perfect balance against the top-heavy blackness. The fact that the figure is missing a head is what does it for me in the end. Thank you so much for posting.

To answer your question, the shot was definitely candid, but I was also looking for the moment. Sitting at Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto, I saw this guy on his bike and just knew that a moment would eventually show itself and so I sat there soaking in the Sun until I got this shot :)
