Walking on the cliffs to Polperro in Cornwall I came across this curious insect it was very busy and moved fleetingly at great speed I took a number of photo's before capturing this shot of it with its proboscis out drinking the nectar from this wild Valerian flower. I asked everyone who passed me on that path if they knew what it was and no one knew, so only found out it when I got home, it lived up to its name and sounds like a hummingbird.
