I had a chance to photograph this hungry polar bear eating a seal, which will provide sufficient energy for the bear to live on, when I travelled to Arctic in July this year.

This bear is well known to the polar scientists in Norway as "Number 31". He is a 27 years old male (the average life span of polar is appr. 30 years). It is amazing that he can still catch a prey. So he must be a wise old bear.

The survival of his specie is bleak - threaten by global warming and commercial hunting (about1000 polar bears are killed by commercial and trophy hunters each year). We know of the climate crisis cause by us; sadly the bear don't, all the animals in the Arctic, like Ivory gulls, puffins, walruses, arctic fox don't know why...but they do know food is vanishing quickly. All of us can do our part to help mitigate climate change...to save polar bears, ivory gulls, foxes and walruses but window is fast closing. Do your bit right now.
