This was a senior portrait session with a dancer. We hiked 2 miles to this historical pier in Saugatuck, Michigan. This was one of the last portraits I captured for this session because it was near dark with a storm moving our way. I used my Elinchrom ELB 400 with HS Head to add light to my subject and exposed for a dramatic sky. I found decreasing my saturation in photoshop was a great combination. This pier has historical significance as a port of entrance for Saugatuck, Michigan. Her pose reminds me of a nautical figurehead on the bow of a wooden ship. These figureheads were used to protect the bow from abrasion when docking.
