During the solar eclipse of August 21, 2017, the sun was perched perfectly over a local Missouri icon--the McBaine Burr Oak Tree--right at totality. The McBaine Burr Oak is the Missouri State Champion Burr Oak Tree, being the largest of its species in Missouri and one of the largest specimins in the country. After months of planning, hours of waiting after setting up, ominous clouds came through immediately before totality and threatened to completely ruin the shot. Fortunately they managed to part long enough to glimpse the brilliant corona and grab the shot. In the end, I believe the clouds actually added a dynamic touch of mood to the image and a dramatic contrast to the "360 sunset".
