Welcome to View Bug, The first step is to get your images out there so keep shooting and keep posting. Subject of this shot is a No brainer a magnificent Hawk you can't go wrong with that. Shooting a Wild Animal is very difficult and obviously this shot did not come out well. Composition: Understand the Rule of Thirds. I know the Focus points are usually in the center of the frame so what we have to do is focus and re compose the shot. "RULE of THIRDS" use this as a guide and go from there. Try to avoid the center of the frame. One of the main things in a shot is FOCUS and avoiding Motion blur. This shot is motion blurred. Try using a Higher ISO so you can get a faster shutter speed or Just shoot in S or Shutter Priority and you want to be around 1/1000 as a general rule for a shot like this. Another thing at makes this shot difficult are the obstructions in front of your subject. There is a Branch that runs straight trough the eye. As with portraits of Humans the EYES make the shot you want sharp eyes. Thank you for sharing Hope these words encourages you to shoot more. 1Wolf
