Echidna
Flinders Chase National Park,
Kangaroo Island
Southern Australia

Under the shade and leaf litter of a row of Gum Trees I spotted this lone Echidna foraging for food. It was still a long way off, but I had a 2x converter on my 200mm lens, and I really wanted a close up shot from ground level of this incredible animal. I slowly moved ahead of where I thought the Echidna would be moving, and lied down in the leaves and balanced by camera lens on my rucksack. The Echidna carried on foraging some 10ft in front of me, completely at ease. Its truly amazing when you can hear every tiny detail as you watch the creature through the view finder!
