Piering into Oceanongraphy

The world's oceans control the planet's weather patterns, and thusly have the power to determine the location of the earth's life filled jungles, and baron deserts. It is important that humans understand the ocean, it's currents, and life forms so we may share the planet in harmony with mother nature.

This 1090ft long concrete pier protrudes from the campus of University of California San Diego out into the La Jolla Underwater Park in the Pacific Ocean. It serves as one of the largest research piers in the world, and is operated by the Scripps Institute of Oceanography.
