These owls are not native to the area where this picture was taken. They call this an irruption year, which is still somewhat of a phenomenon as to why they migrate to this area. This photo was taken during my first trip to this area. I was waiting for him to fly, as he seemed very interested in something that was in the field to the right of me. Unfortunately he did not want to waste any energy finding out. This spot had to of yielded him lots of field mice, as he had a great 360degree view of the field and did not move for quite some time.
