Mount Rodel is a peak in the Hills of the Moon ('Montes da Lua' or 'Serra de Sintra') in Portugal. Sintra and its Cultural Landscape of misty forests and romantic palaces, gardens, woods, mansions and mythical places are a World Heritage site. But Sintra forests are in their most part human creations, the primitive forests having been reduced to small patches. Around the boulders peak of Rodel the essence of the primeval forest is still able to survive. In the magic hours before sunset it recreates the unique ambiance and colours of the Old Masters of Painting.
