La Alhambra, Granada, Spain. An incredible complex of Moorish palaces and fortress constructed between the XI-XIV centuries. The Queen of Spain Isabel The Catholic avoided its destruction when she conquered the city of Granada and unified Spain in 1492 (a few moths before the discovery of America by Colon, financed by the same Queen).
