This is a wonderful image that represents the tragedy of the forest fires in the West this summer. I am heartsick over the great losses to our beautiful country.

Out of the ashes will come new growth. But yes to think of the immense span of time that is so quickly snuffed out is a sobering thought

I, too, thought this image showed a timber-lined hillside enveloped in fog . . . but then I saw the brown tinge to it on the left-hand side . . . and knew it had to be smoke. So very tragic. All of those precious trees! It just makes me heartsick!
