'Sand Dancer'

Here's one from a little mooch around Little Haven Beach, South Shields earlier today. I was heading straight for the Groyne Lighthouse but stopped in my tracks when I spotted this composition on my way down to the beach. It was quite windy so thought I'd whip out the Big Stopper and do a long exposure to get some movement on the grass and clouds.

Sanddancer is a colloquialism used to describe those who come from the town of South Shields, Tyne and Wear, England, although the term is hardly known by anyone outside of the local area. The origins of the term are hotly contested, and there are many theories as to where the term derives from, but there is very little in the way of hard facts.
