One of Australia’s best known and loved birds is the Laughing Kookaburra. Largest member of the Kingfisher family in Australia they are renowned for their unique laughing call. Common throughout the region, generally in parks, reserves and woodland areas, but often in suburban gardens as well. Found in most suburbs, parks and reserves throughout Australia.
Kookaburras are carnivorous. They eat lizards, snakes, insects, mice and raw meat. Kookaburras are terrestrial tree kingfishers native to Australia and New Guinea.
