This image was taken during the Vivid Sydney light festival held yearly on June. The idea behind this image was to try to be more creative than taking the regular urban shots of the colourful lit buildings, where all the commotion is. I decided to take a vantage point observing the city from far by including the Harbour bridge which is iconic to Sydney much like the Opera building. That was just one aspect. The second aspect was considering I wanted to golden hour + sunset colours, but Vivid light show only starts at 6PM, long after the sun sets (winter clock here). To overcome this issue I took a total of 20 images, out of which only 6 were used to compose the image that you see. Each image was exposed at a different time and with different shutter speeds, ranging from 90 seconds to just 2 seconds. Using blending modes in photoshop, I was able to get the lights of Vivid on the bridge and building + golden hour colours. In addition, I made sure I take different white balance images for shots that were during golden hour to when the sun had set and the city lights dominated the sky.
