This is one of the first images captured at our evolving butterfly garden. We built our small garden to contribute to the conservation of the monarch butterfly. As I was pruning back the potato vine in our garden, the vine attached to this leaf was slated for the recycling bin until I noticed this caterpillar in the process of forming its chrysalis. I captured this image on a flat surface before placing the leaf in a place where it could hang and the caterpillar could complete the chrysalis forming process. After some Lightroom slider-based enhancements guided by Gretchen, I created this image for printing.
