This abandoned Mission dates to the late 1600s early 1700s in New Mexico just north of the border with Mexico. This was the only remaining standing structure left from the settlement known as La Naranjo (The Orange). An archaeological dig is being conducted on another part of the former settlement. A local group tried to complete some reconstruction of this mission in the 1980s but ran out of money. The area is desert but received a lot of rain just prior to this photograph so the vegetation was very green.
