This is a photo of a sculpture carved into a tree many years ago. The tree is alive and well. I was fortunate enough to have visited an artist home. As I was wondering around his yard looking for a photo... I saw this tree carving.
Interesting Facts: The red small objects (shaped like a Bindi at the top of the carving are baby spiders. The dark black circle at the bottom lip of the sculpture - well that's an Asian Mud Dauber. What you see in the photo of his rear-end sticking out of the Dauber's mud nest.
After the completion of its mud nest, it will seek out live spiders as insect prey. Each type of mud-dauber has their own special list of spiders to pursue.
Before haven taken this photo. I did not realize all of the aforementioned details until after I began editing the Raw images at home. Nature and its mysteries.
