The hike up Nile Creek, on Vancouver Island, can be difficult at the best of times. On this particular fall day it was raining lightly, as you can tell from the tiny drops of water dripping off the fungus. This made the hike uncomfortable and treacherous. In the end I was rewarded for my efforts by a wonderful view of waterfall, wildlife and this magnificent example of fungus.
