Passionflower from the passionflower family. Includes 500 species.
Most of the species grows in tropical America, especially in Brazil and Peru, a few species are found in tropical Asia and Australia, and one species is found on the island of Madagascar. It is also cultivated in a subtropical climate in the Transcaucasus. Fully ripe fruits of some species are edible. Unripe fruits of all types of passionflower and vegetative parts of some species contain cyanides. This flower was discovered by me on a private estate in Chartres.
