Is this a brown tail moth caterpillar, if so they have hairs that can irritate the skin,which comes out looking like stinging nettle hives.

The irritations last for about 2 weeks,you can get antihistamine cream to relieve irritations.

Yes, I did experience it. The irritation lasted few days but not weeks.
